A Free Way to Promote and Profit – Viral Marketing

09/08/2009

It’s a horrible word isn’t it….marketing? No, only joking, I mean “viral” of course. Mention viral and one tends to think infection, illness and disease – or for the geeks among us, computers messed up. But viral marketing is nothing so negative or unpleasant, viral marketing is good!

What is Viral Marketing?

As the name suggests, it’s a way of spreading your marketing message from person to person, rather like the flu virus is passed on. You give the germ to, say 5 friends/colleagues/family members, who in turn each pass on the bug to 5 more (5×5=25), who then spread it to another 5 (25×5=125) and so on until after just 8 levels, you reach the staggering figure of 1,953,125.

The classic example of viral marketing is Hotmail.com, one of the first free Web-based e-mail services. The strategy is simple:

1. Give away free e-mail addresses and services, 2. Attach a simple tag at the bottom of every users email message sent: “Get your private, free email at http://www.hotmail.com” and, 3. Then stand back while people e-mail to their own network of friends and associates, 4. Who see the message, 5. Sign up for their own free e-mail service, and then 6. Propel the message still wider to their own ever-increasing circles of friends and associates

What makes marketing ‘Viral’?

A viral marketing plan usually has some or all of the following basic elements:

1. Provides a product or service free
2. Makes for easy transfer of the message to others
3. Allows easy growth from small to very large
4. Exploits common motivations and behaviours
5. Uses existing communication networks
6. Utilizes the resources of others

Let’s look at each of these in turn.

1.Provides a product or service free

“Free” is the most persuasive word in marketing. Most viral marketing campaigns give away a product or service to get peoples interest. Free email service, free software, free information etc. Then, when you have their attention, when you have their trust, sell them something. Hit them with a sales pitch first, chances are they won’t be interested.

2. Makes for easy transfer of the message to others

Viral marketing works so well on the internet because quick communication has become so easy and cheap. Your marketing message must be simple so that it can be passed on without loosing its effectiveness. The simpler and shorter the better, remember the hotmail example: “Get your private, free email at http://www.hotmail.com.

3. Allows easy growth from small to very large

To grow rapidly, the necessary infrastructure must be available. The best viral marketing makes use of the resources of others. This was the only weakness in the hotmail example, the service required its own mailservers. Not a problem with the resources of Microsoft behind you, but for mere mortals like you and I, best to plan on spreading the message using others recourses, see number 6.

4. Exploits common motivations and behaviours

What motivates people to use certain products or services on the web, and to recommend these to their friends? The practicality of a product, sure, but more than that – the desire to be popular, thought of as cool etc. Greed also motivates, hence the power of the word ‘free’!

5. Uses existing communication networks

Most people have around 5 to 12 people in their close network of friends, family and work colleagues. On the internet, nearly everyone has email addresses in their contacts list, and favourite websites stored in their web browser. Utilise this fact in your marketing campaign. For example, when you give away a free product, ask the recipient to provide the email addresses of others who may be interested.

6. Utilizes the resources of others

Get your message into other peoples emails and onto others websites, that way their recourses are being used, not yours. And once your campaign has enough momentum, sit back while your customers do the marketing for you.

Conclusion

Viral marketing costs very little, in fact if you go to the right places it can be free. Given that, and the huge potential benefits, you marketing campaign really should catch the viral marketing bug!

Today your in for a real treat. WHY? Because I’m going to tell you How-To build “Feeder Pages” search engines simply die for.

And don’t worry, these tips won’t strain your brain to much and are very straight forward, even if your New to the Internet marketing game.

TRAFFIC, as we all know it is the life blood of your businesses VERY existence online, so wouldn’t it be nice if you could tap into some of that traffic, thats targeted Search Engine traffic, absolutely FREE Of Charge?

I bet you said YES!

Well… your in luck because that’s the sole purpose of a “Feeder Page”.

Now, the question that I found that usually arises with “Feeder Pages” is How-To build them correctly.

This was the exact question I had myself when I was first came across this type of website Traffic Generation and is why I’m writing this article.

So, with that said, I hope by the time you finish reading this article you’ll have a good idea yourself of the steps neccessary on How-To build quality “Feeder Pages” of your own that will send you FREE targeted search engine traffic and generate you some Google Adsense revenue as well.

Lets get started. Go to Tip #1.

Tip #1. Make your “Feeder Pages” theme based.

This is an important tip. You must make your “Feeder Pages” the same theme as the rest of your website. What I mean by that is, same template, same navigation, same links, copyright, etc.

By doing this it won’t seem as obvious to your visitor that its a generated page of some sort and will give you a better chance of them clicking through to your main sale pages.

Tip #2. Put quality Keyword Rich content on your pages.

This is yet another important tip you must consider and that is putting quality Keyword Targeted content on your “Feeder Pages” that targets your audience.

Why?

Because you are building these pages for the search engines and since roughly 85% of Internet surfers use search engines as their primary tool for locating the information they’re looking for your going to want to have Quality Content related to your Product or Service waiting for them to draw them in when they find your link within the search engine listings.

Tip #3. Add links back to your website or affiliate site.

This next tip is pretty straight forward. All you need to do is put either a Text Ad(recommended) or some Banner Ads within the “Feeder Pages” in Highly Visible areas and link them back to your main website or Affiliate website.

This is the whole purpose of building these pages in the first place.

Tip #4. Placing your Google Adsense code for $$CASH$$.

Since your doing all this work to generate traffic to your main website why not profit EVEN MORE by adding 3 blocks of Google Adsense code to your “Feeder Pages” just in case your visitor decides not to click through to your website or affiliate site.

And since your “Feeder Pages” have quality Keyword Targeted content on them, your Google Adsense Ads will display targeted ads.

The best places to put your 3 blocks of Google Adsense code is right at the top under your Header graphic if you have one. The next best place is in the upper left sidebar. And the last place is either within the content itself or at the end of the article.

These positions all depend on how you build your “Feeder Pages”, so make sure you plan out where you want to put your Google Adsense code in advance for Maximum PROFIT!

Tip #5. Add an RSS feed to your “Feeder Pages”.

Okay. Here’s the last tip I’m going to share and that is, add an RSS(Real Simple Syndication) feed to your “Feeder Pages”.

By doing this you’ll be putting your “Feeder Pages” on Autopilot, 24/7.

Why an RSS feed?

Simple. RSS feeds deliver and syndicate fresh content, so if you have an RSS feed on your “Feeder Pages” your content will be updated ‘Automatically’ which will then trigger the search engine spiders to schedule routine visits back to your website for more indexing.

Well… there you have it in a nutshell folks.

If you follow what I have outlined above you’ll be on your way to FREE targeted search engine traffic and Google Adsense $$PROFITS$$.

These are just some quality tips I wanted to share with you from my own experience to help you Maximize your efforts if you decide to use this type of Traffic Generation, and to also help take away the Trial and Error process.

Keyword Research Can Target Niche Markets Better And Make You More Money!

06/08/2009

Using keyword research can expand the reach and visibility of any business trying to do business on the internet. It is also one of the most under used techniques of driving internet traffic. Keyword research is also a necessity for search engine optimization and pay-per-click campaigns.

Keyword research doesn’t only help with search engine visibility, but it also can open your eyes, as an entrepreneur, of complimentary markets, products or services that you should be addressing. I’ve been able to find additional markets to promote as a compliment to my existing business. This allows me to make more money from each lead that I drive to my website.

There are basically 2 types of keyword research software: keyword suggestion tools and keyword analytical tools.

1. Keyword Suggestion Tools

ResultsGenerator.com is one of the best keyword research tools available on the internet. It combines the Yahoo / Overture Keyword Research Search Tool with the Keyword Bidding Tool on One Screen. It tells you how much it would cost to be number one in the Overture Pay Per Click Search Sites in the left hand screen, and in the right hand screen tells you how many times the keyword was searched for and the various other keywords that were searched containing that word.

The reason that I like and use ResultsGenerator.com so much, is because it’s FREE to use AND I can view 2 key ingredients to find and target niche markets better. If I see that a keyword is searched for a lot, then I will play with various versions of it to find those keywords that allow me to get the best number of clicks for the cheapest amount of money. Thus driving traffic to test sites in order to find out what my metrics are for my Google Adwords or Yahoo Overture Campaigns.

One of the best places to perform keyword research are the search engines themselves. I like using both Google.com and Yahoo.com I find that since Google cleans their search engine and takes longer to index websites, when I am dealing with instantly changing markets and information, I will rely on using Yahoo.com, MSN.com and Blogger.com

2. Keyword Analytical Tools

There are also some Paid Keyword Research Tools that I use on a regular, almost daily basis. The most popular paid keyword research tool among search engine marketers is software called WordTracker.Com Wordtracker’s Keyword Research Guide is a useful collection of tips and techniques from some of the most respected search marketing practitioners working today. At first, I wasn’t sure whether paying the money that I paid was worth it or not. So I started with a One Day Trial. That turned into years of membership now for me. I would not want to do business on the internet without WordTracker.

You need third-party keyword research tools and resources to build and expand keyword lists for search engine marketing (SEM). Some SEM and search engine optimization (SEO) agencies have keyword research tools available only to their clients. Extensive keyword research seeks to harmonize your keyword choices with the search terms most used by your targeted visitors.

What about SEO ( Search Engine Optimization ) ?

For best results, keyword research and analysis should be undertaken in consultation with an experienced search engine professional (SEP). They will help you to further use these tools to the deepest level possible in order to maximize your return on investment in pay per click advertising!! There are many things in life that you don’t try to do yourself, like being your own doctor when you are sick or being your own attorney when you are in trouble. SEO should be handled by the professionals.

Remember: Keyword research is an integral and extremely important part of your overall search engine optimization process.

Maximizing the use of keyword research and related tools will help you to:

- expand your visibility and revenue

- find you new and complimentary markets

- lower your keyword pay per click cost

- increase your bottom line profits per campaign

What is one thing a home business entrepreneur should be constantly working towards?

06/04/2009

We will begin this topic with one assumption, that our home business comprises selling through a website. Meaning we are website owners. In which case, we may want to manage our website ourselves or hire someone to manage it for us. In either option, it is in our interest to know what goes into making our home business a success or what we are paying for to achieve success at it. Internet is full of claims, information, advice and secrets on how to get success with home business. Some self proclaimed as well as genuine gurus are selling info packed in ebooks while some ask you to download videos and guarantee you can replicate their success. What you have to understand is that all these people are selling you the same truth…. “Increase traffic to your site”. Everyone is teaching you the same skill in their own language. This answers our basic question. The internet home business entrepreneurs should be constantly working towards getting more and more traffic to their website/websites. They may use any school of thought that suits them. Do a simple link exchange campaign or pay for links on websites with high traffic. May follow particular ebook guru’s techniques; take tips of SEO website owners…whatever. Anyhow their end goal has to be constant inflow of traffic. Increase in traffic. So home business entrepreneurs, keep this one thing in mind. There are different ways and means available online to reach the same end (I can’t repeat it enough-Traffic is the end goal). Sales and profits will come only if there is traffic. You might be selling the most wonderful product at the most reasonable price, but if its not reaching the right audience, there is little point, you will agree. So work towards traffic, more hits, unique hits and there is no way you will not make a successful home business entrepreneur. Analyzing this traffic is another as important aspect, which we will learn some other time. It’s a topic by itself. A very crucial one at that. May be reading statistics gives you a clue that you run a home business but lot of your traffic is coming from pharmacy sites. It will help you plan your future course of action that much better.

Link Exchanges: What they can do for your business: (Part 2)

05/26/2009

TO AUTOMATE OR NOT TO?

For those of you who are trying to figure out if you should use an automated link promoter or just simply doing everything yourself:

Linking software’s are great (not really) I’ve tried 2 programs myself, and I must say that both attempts were a disaster! Now I’m not saying that eventually that there will be a perfect software out there to promote your link exchange program.

Right now, here are some of the problems

- The links that you will find are not relevant to your sites content.

- Some links tend to be “Link Farms” that only harm your search engine performance.

- You’ll tend to get millions of porn sites!

and so on…
—————————————————

Here’s a method that holds very strong when I look for link partners:

—————————————————
When I find a great resource that has similar content to my site, I will browse through their ENTIRE “Resourceful Links” listed on their site and see if It’s a good idea to link to them!
—————————————————

Here’s another method of doing this effectively for best results:

—————————————————
If you happen to find a great resource, enter their entire “URL” in www.google.com.

What you need to look for is this:
“Find web pages that link to www.this-site.com

The Purpose Martin?

Once you click on the “pages that link to that site” you will find sites that already have a great link program related to your site!

Take advantage of linking to all the sites listed within that search on google!

PLEASE TRY TO AUTOMATE YOUR LINK
EXCHANGE PROGRAM!

It gets very flustering for an entrepreneur like me who is trying to have a really good source of link exchanges, especially when I have to e-mail my companies information manually!

Try adding a “Mail Script” that takes the link exchange information right from your site! You’ll find that more sites will want to link to yours!

Here’s an example of what your form should ask:

1) Full Name: Martin Lemieux
2) WebSite URL: http://www.smartads.info
3) Title: Smartads.Info :: Marketing & Advertising Centre
4) Description: (250 characters or less)

Smartads :: Learn everything about Link Exchanges, Search Engines Submissions, Advertising & Marketing Tips, Web Design, Special Canadian Sites. Promotion & Traffic Resources

5) Our link on your site: http://www???
6) E-mail: youre-mail@yoursite.com
7) Comments:
8) SUBMIT

That’s all you really need!!!

Another little “Timbit”,
Give visitors your link information!

Please add your “Link Information” that you would want visitors to add on their site! I’ve gone to too many sites were I had to spend over 5 minutes trying to find their “Link Exchange” information!

Now I’m not talking about a link on your site to your link program, I’m talking about the information you would give to other sites in order to exchange links!

Denying link exchanges!

Get ready, it happens to all of us! Don’t get upset when a company you just linked to has just denied your link exchange! Many companies out there has STRICT guidelines they are looking for. You may have not read their specific rules they have! Don’t worry about it, take a note and move on.

There’s another 1,000 000 that will link to you so don’t go have a drink from one denial! I know we all hate them but just remember, we’ve all got them!

In the future, when you’re put in a situation were you will be the one denying another site for a link exchange, just remember how you felt at the time and be considerate to the other by telling them WHY they were denied. I often replied to the site that denied my site to ask why my site wasn’t accepted and often I am surprised to hear the reason. what they had to say!

I hope this article has opened your mind about Link Exchanges!

Blog And Ping Your Way To Traffic

If you have a website then you are certainly interested in having it do as well as it possibly can in the search engine rankings. However, did you know that you do have some control over getting good rankings and increasing your traffic? That is right; you can take your website’s success into your own hands and increase your traffic and income by blogging and pinging. Don’t know what blogging and pinging are? Read on to find out!

Blogging

A blog is just the short way of saying web log, which can be compared to an online journal or diary. However, blogs don’t have to be personal information. They can include news, thoughts, opinions, challenges, history, and anything the blogger wants. The most important aspect of a blog is that it is updated on a schedule and a regular basis with fresh new content. Some bloggers add new content once a week while others blog daily or multiple times per day. This is where increased search engine rankings come into play. Since there is always fresh new content the site is given heavier weight than if no new content were provided. This results in higher search engine rankings and increased traffic.

Pinging

A ping is simply a program that sends out a message to another server or computer in order to get a response. So, for instance, if you update your blog you want to ping the search engines so your pages are indexed and your site ranked higher.

Why Blog and Ping?

You probably know that if your website does not show up in the search engines you are unlikely to get a ton of a traffic, and if you have a website you want traffic. So, the best thing to do is write a regular blog, ping the search engines, and your site will get indexed significantly faster than it would otherwise. By putting in a little bit of extra work you are getting your site indexed with the search engines and inevitably more traffic.

There is a lot of free blog software out on the Internet that you can simply link to your site and start blogging. Including RSS feeds, which are the pings, means the search engines are going to know you are out there and as a result start indexing your site. So, if you want to increase your traffic start blogging and pinging and you will see a difference in traffic in a hurry.

Traffic Generation Tactics!

02/19/2009

No matter how cool your site is or how fabulous your product is, you’re not going to generate enough sales to make your business viable unless you get traffic! You have to get the word out about your site and give people a reason to visit it.

The good news is, there are lots of ways to effectively advertise your site online and drive tons of “qualified” traffic to your site — for free! (“Qualified” traffic consists of people who belong to your target niche market and are most likely to buy the products or services you offer — THESE are the people you want coming to your site!)

TACTIC #10:

Use viral marketing strategies to “infect” people with
the desire to learn more about your product!

These days, viral marketing messages are spreading through the Web like wildfire. Viral marketing is any type of advertising that is “self-perpetuating,” compelling people to share it with others so that it spreads through a community like a virus — but a good one!

Hotmail.com is a textbook example of viral marketing on the Internet. Hotmail was one of the first free e-mail services on the Web. In its first one and a half years, Hotmail managed to sign up an incredible 12 million subscribers! How did it accomplish this? Simple: At the end of every e-mail, Hotmail included the following message: “Get your private, free e-mail at http://www.hotmail.com,” encouraging everyone who received an e-mail to sign up for the free service themselves.

Large companies use viral marketing messages to perpetuate awareness of their brand, often by creating humorous videos or animation clips that people send to their friends for a laugh. Some smaller companies have also used this strategy successfully. An example is “Homestar Runner,” a small business that’s created a set of cartoon characters and animated shorts that circulate around the Web, encouraging people to visit the main site and buy the company’s merchandise.

If you like to play around with video or animation, you might think about adopting this strategy to generate interest in your own product. Just keep in mind that it can be very difficult to determine the exact return on investment for viral marketing campaigns, since it’s impossible to keep track of where the ad goes. This type of viral marketing is good for generating interest in your site and products, but it doesn’t always translate into immediate sales.

TACTIC #9:

Use online business networking communities to hook up with other entrepreneurs for link swaps and joint marketing ventures

Business networking communities are springing up all over the Web. They’re similar to dating or social networking sites, but are used by entrepreneurs to find other businesspeople with whom they can establish mutually beneficial business relationships.

Sites like these can offer great opportunities for entrepreneurs to set up joint marketing ventures with like-minded businesses, or simply to find link-swap partners who can help drive more traffic to their sites. (We’ll be looking at link swapping in greater detail later on, in case you’re not familiar with this effective traffic generation tactic).

Business networking communities can also help generate traffic by allowing their members to create personal profile pages with links to their main business sites. These links can improve a site’s ranking with the major search engines.

If you decide to join a networking community, be sure to partner with people whose business is complementary to your own. Their site has to attract visitors who are likely to become your customers as well — for example, it probably won’t do you any good to have your all-vegetarian tofu burgers featured on a Cattle Rancher’s Association site!

Here are some business networking communities you may want to check out:

Ryze
LinkedIn

AlwaysOn

Spoke

TACTIC #8:

Become a recognized “name” in your niche market by participating in newsgroups, discussion forums, or blogging networks

A great way to establish an online identity and develop relationships with your potential customer base is by taking part in newsgroups and discussion forums or starting up a blog related to your niche market. These tools can really help you communicate directly with your niche market and discover what their wants and needs are.

For example, if you sell special mountain biking shoes, spend some time hanging out in mountain biking forums — that’s where your target market’s going to be! Or you could start your own blog in which you describe your latest mountain biking adventures — complete with attention-grabbing photos, of course! You could even combine the two tactics and generate interest in your blog by mentioning it in forums and newsgroups.

However, most newsgroups, blog networks, and discussion forums do NOT allow people to blatantly advertise in them! If you want to generate traffic through these sites, the best way to do it is to offer friendly, useful advice to people who express a need for something, and then include a subtle link to your business site at the end of all your messages. If people like what you say, they may decide to visit your site and check out your products or services.

Taking part in newsgroups, forums and blogs can be very time-consuming, but can still be a great way to establish a name for yourself in your niche market.

TACTIC #7:

Get your visitors to tell their friends about you!

A good way to drive visitors to your site is to ask your existing customer base to do it for you!

There are lots of sites that offer free “tell-a-friend” buttons you can place directly on your site, in order to encourage your visitors to send e-mails to their friends telling them about your site.

If your site offers a free opt-in newsletter, contest, quiz, or “tip of the day” — in other words, any information that people will want to share because it’s fun, valuable, or exciting — include a “send to a friend” button in that feature as well. It’s a great way to get the word out about your site to as many people as possible — and there is nothing more powerful than a personal recommendation from a friend or colleague.

TACTIC #6:

Encourage people to “get busy” with your site
with interactive traffic generators

One of the best ways to get traffic to your site is to offer valuable content that’s updated on a regular basis, so that your visitors are prompted to pay frequent return visits to see what new information you have available. Provide content that’s relevant to your industry, such as articles, product reviews, or “how-to” advice columns — anything you think your visitors will find useful or entertaining.

As you develop your collection of written content, consider placing it in a searchable archive so that your visitors can access past articles and product reviews. This will encourage people to think of your site not only as a place where they can buy things, but also as a valuable source of information.

You should also consider offering other free resources to attract your target audience. Remember, the most powerful word in a marketer’s arsenal is “free”! The more useful tools and resources you offer your visitors, the more they’ll appreciate your site.

Offer fun or helpful interactive tools that relate to the purpose of your site. For example:

If you sell recipe books or kitchenware, include a measurement converter that easily allows people to convert imperial measurements to metric and vice versa.

If you sell scuba gear or sailing goods, link to current tide and weather information.

If you sell books on philosophy or self-improvement, include IQ tests or quizzes that determine personality types.

This strategy tends to be better for getting repeat traffic than for attracting new visitors, but if you include a “tell-a-friend” button with your interactive traffic generator, you may prompt visitors to share the news about your site with others — and get them to drive new traffic to your site for you!

TACTIC #5:

Increase your site’s exposure by swapping links with other sites

If you want your site to be seen by as many potential customers as possible, try to get it mentioned on sites they’re likely to visit. You want to find sites that are related to yours, but not competing with it.

For example, if you sell ski goggles, try to get your product mentioned on alpine tourism sites, sites that sell skis, boots and poles, and sites that sell winter clothing — but not on other sites that sell ski goggles!

A great way to get your site mentioned on other sites is to contact those sites directly and offer to “link swap” with them. Tell them you’ll put a link to their site on your site if they’ll do the same for you. Not only will this generate a lot of increased exposure for your site — it can also boost your ranking with the search engines.

Search the Web for sites that cater to your niche market — AND that get a lot of traffic! If you own a souvenir shop, for example, see if you can get your site listed on local hotel and restaurant sites, as well as other travel and hospitality sites tourists are likely to visit.

TACTIC #4:

Get the message out about your site by giving away free content

One of the best ways to make sure your site gets mentioned on other sites is to offer them valuable free content.

Many online business owners are happy to get quality information to put on their site or in their opt-in newsletters so offer them some of the regularly updated content you’ve posted on your own site (as suggested in Traffic Generation Tactic #6). By providing other site owners with free articles, product reviews, or advice columns, you’ll be doing them a favor — as well as increasing the exposure of your own site!

Try to get your content published on popular web sites or in newsletters that have huge mailing lists. Before you offer your content, do a little research to discover how much traffic the site gets, and how many people subscribe to the site’s opt-in newsletter. Try to find out which sites are the “hot spots” in your niche market — THAT’S where you want your articles to be published!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Remember, this tactic will ONLY work if you include your contact info and a link to your site at the end of every article! That’ll make it easy for people to visit your site and learn more about the products or services you sell — so make sure that every site or e-zine that publishes your content includes this contact info and link.

TACTIC #3:

Be one of the first sites people see listed when they search
your keywords in the free search engines

The free search engines such as Google, Yahoo!, and MSN are still one of the most effective ways to get the word out about your site. There are lots of different techniques you can use to ensure you get a good ranking with the free search engines. For example, you can…

Submit your site to the free search engines and online directories
Optimize your web site so that it’s easily indexed by search engine spiders
Pay close attention to your keyword inclusion and placement
Create content-rich “information pages” to direct traffic to your site
… And these are just a few tactics that will help you improve your search engine ranking! You can spend the time needed to do all this work yourself, or you can use software that will do the job for you, such as WebPosition Gold.

TACTIC #2:

Use e-mail promotions to present your visitors
with offers they CAN’T refuse!

Yes, it’s true: E-mail promotions are one of the top two ways to attract qualified traffic to your site. If you have list of customer or subscriber e-mail addresses, then you’re set!

People who have visited your site and signed up for your newsletter (or a contest or survey) are far more likely to buy than someone who has never heard of your site before. It’s essential that you stay in touch with these people!

Encourage visitors to frequently return to your site by e-mailing them attractive promotional offers, such as e-coupons or discounts on new products you’re offering… notification of a sale or a contest you’re running… even free services or products you’ve decided to give away to a limited number of people!

TACTIC #1

Build an army of affiliates to drive TONS of traffic to your site for you!

You can literally get your affiliates to do ALL your marketing for you! In fact, one of our most successful clients doesn’t spend ANY time optimizing his site for the free search engines — he lets his affiliates do it for him! Many of them go to great lengths to make sure their sites are highly ranked — and because they all link to his site, they boost his search engine ranking as well!

And the best thing about affiliate programs is that you don’t pay your affiliates a dime for all the work they do unless they help you make a sale! It really is a win-win proposition:The more sales your affiliates help you make, the more money they earn as well.

Final thoughts

In order to maximize your site’s exposure, it’s best to use a combination of the tactics listed above. For example, if you’re sending out an e-mail promotion, you may want to include a “tell-a-friend” option in the e-mail so that the people on your mailing list will send the promotion to others. If you have an affiliate program, ask your affiliates to post your articles and product reviews on their sites in order to help you build a reputation for yourself as an industry expert.

Remember: When it comes to online marketing, there are three words you need to keep in mind: LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Your site has to be mentioned often in places where your niche market hangs out if you want your site to be seen by as many potential customers as possible.

The Top 2 Points You Must Definitely Consider About Tag And Ping To Get Masses Of Traffic To Your Si

01/10/2009

Have you heard all the buzz about Tag and Ping? Tag And Ping is the latest craze hitting the net – bringing immediate exposure and back back links to sites. A whole new way of finding information, and a whole new ballgame for webmasters to play!
Tagging is a new way to mark things on the internet. In the old days search engines would spider a page and decide what it was about; with tagging, people decide what the content is about and “tag it”. This tag then serves the purpose as a short description of a webpage, or the category it fits in.

No more relying on old out-of-date search engine algorithms. Real individuals tagging real sites bringing real targeted traffic. No more squandering time searching through search engines for relevant information. Just enter your topics and see what other individuals have found interesting!

The development of tagging has brought about the term “Social Book-Marking”. People are now starting to create bookmarks on central websites, instead of on their private computers. People surfing the web “tag” the sites they find fascinating and they then appear on bookmark search engines. Other individuals interested in the same topics can then come and find real pages, voted for by real humans.

This brings about a whole new system for web masters to find out what people are looking for, and then creating pages that are deserving of attention, and easy to find. Bookmarking pages are a great tool for web masters to do research. Just take a look at popular tags and then look at what pages are being bookmarked the most. Pay attention to those pages to get an idea of what you should be writing about. Put a new twist on it and you will find that your web-site will gain in popularity as well. Bookmark pages are also great for figuring out new subjects to write your own info products about. They are also good for figuring out new niches to jump into.

If you are creating a web site for a “hot” tag that everybody is searching for, you’ll get massive highly targeted traffic! Not only this, but the main search engines pick up on the tags and you will get back back links from the engines with the tag listings!

After you have tagged information you ping the tag-search-engines and they quickly come and index your pages according to the tags. You then appear at the top of the listing until somebody else creates newer pages for that tag.

If you missed out on the “blog and ping” wave you will want to get in ahead of time. Tag and ping is going to be a large trend and is shifting the face of the web forever. Find out more about the technique that has all the hole-and-corner experts in a dizzy tizz: Tag And Ping Site

Tips For Getting Listed in DMOZ and Other Directories

09/09/2008

A directory is a site that lists other sites. DMOZ is one of the largest, but there others, such as Yahoo’s directory, as well as other more specialized directories. The advantage to having your site listed in a directory is that potential customers can find your site easier, and search engines can crawl your site and list it. Here are some basic tips for getting your site in the directory.

1) Submit your site.
Most directories have a means your to submit your site; take advantage of it. This is the easiest and most effective way to get your site listed, and it allows you the most control over how your site is easiest. Just be advised that it may take some time before your site is listed; some directories take up to two months.

2) Have fans.
If people like your site, then they submit the site to directories that they use. This is great as there are a lot of directories that you will never hear about, and your fans will be more than glad to list your site for you. You don’t have any control over how your site is listed, but it will get listed.

3) Belong to a group.
There are two general types of groups: rings and drop-downs. Both are people that have decided to ally together in order to better publicize their sites, and automatically enter their members in their directories. Drop-downs have a piece of code that allows you to go to any members’ site, and a ring sends you to the next member, the last member, or a random; there is otherwise no real difference between them.

4) Host your site in a place that features a directory.
Some Web hosting companies and marketing sites (such as CafePress) put everyone that they host in a directory. This is a great way to market your site, especially as it may bring customers you didn’t even consider to your site.

There are some other ways to join a directories, but these the best ways to join a directory. There are some directories that actively seek out new members, but, due to the randomness of which these work, these are not effective ways to join a directory.

It should be noted that joining a directory is advantageous to your site. As directories are used as ways to see if a site would work for the person looking for something. Because directories are increasingly being used, using a directory could be a major advantage to your site.

Increase Your Website Traffic and Get Sales

08/29/2008

No matter what you sell or are trying to promote online, you want visitors to your website — traffic. And you want to turn that traffic into sales. To turn your website and other online activities into a powerful traffic and sales generating system, the simple fact is you need an aggressive website promotion program that is ongoing and relentless.

Website promotion is not brain surgery, but it must be done correctly. Here are six of the main components that should be emphasized in a good website promotion program:

1. Know Your Product, Define it Clearly

2. Use Powerful Copy in Your Website, and Sales Materials

3. Create an Aggressive Link Program

4. Write Articles and Submit Them Everywhere

5. Turn Site Visitors into Leads

6. Get Instant Traffic with PPC Advertising

**1. Know your product and define it clearly

Many of us have difficulty telling other people exactly what we do. Imagine you’re at a party, a meeting, or on the golf course and you get asked the inevitable question, “So, what does your company do?” What happens? Do you stumble around trying to remember what you told the last guy who asked that question? Or do you have a clear, precise and memorable answer that you can recite back to them in one or two sentences.

It goes without saying that your clarity or confusion will be reflected in your website promotion. Make it one of your primary objectives to develop a clear explanation of your product or service, and your website promotion will fall nicely into place as a result.

**2. Promote your product with powerful copy

If you want your website to create sales, then the job of your most important pages is to get your primary selling message across quickly and
powerfully before your impatient visitors click on to another site.

For your people audience you must get to the point quickly and precisely, and with sufficient emphasis to impress your visitors that you know what you are talking about.

The search engines also demand a clear product definition and clear product descriptions. But in this case the result should be search engine optimized copy. This is because the search engines do not read between the lines. They look for clear indications of what your pages are about. And they make their decisions on the basis of “keywords”.

If the task of “optimizing” your website seems too daunting, then look for a website promotion expert who can bundle this service with other promotional services.

**3. Create an aggressive link program

Getting links from “relevant” sites serves two important purposes. First, relevant links create an important source of direct traffic. A visitor to a related site will see the link to yours, click on it, and become your visitor. Some estimates put the percentage of internet traffic resulting from this kind of link as high as 21% of total traffic.

The other important purpose of your linking strategy is to impress the search engines. Links to and from other sites indicate other site owners in your area of interest consider your site worth looking at. That is why Google and the other major search engines give a much better ranking to sites with incoming links from relevant high traffic sites.

The bad news is a productive link building program takes quite a bit of time and effort, and will take up to six months or more to do properly.

The good news is there are website promotion professionals who will plan and execute a link building program for you as part of a package of promotion services. This makes it very economical. But it will still not happen overnight. Link building is an ongoing long term project.

**4. Write Articles in your field of expertise, and distribute them wherever you can

Publishing articles in online publications, directories and ezines is one of the most effective and least expensive kinds of website promotion. It is a perfect way to generate interest in your site, and create traffic.

Well written articles can be used to highlight various aspects of your products or services. At the same time you will establish yourself as an authority in your field. And the articles you write and publish today will continue to be available on the web for years to come.

Distributing articles is also an important way to create incoming links. Other websites and ezines publish your articles and in the process create links pointing back to your website. Why? Because when you write your article you make sure to embed a link or two pointing back to your site. Often this is done in what is called the “Resource Box” — a short bio of the author that contains a low key pitch for your products or services.

But writing and distributing articles is not for everyone. It is a very time-consuming activity, and if you are not much of a writer it will cost some money to have someone write articles for you.

One interesting alternative is our own program in which we embed sponsor links in relevant articles. This is probably the easiest and least expensive way to get the benefits of article distribution without the pain and aggravation of actually having to write original articles.

**5. Turn visitors into leads

The online sales process starts with traffic visitors to your site. But traffic is not enough. You want to turn some of these visitors into leads. A “lead” is a visitor who expresses an interest by contacting you. This puts them in “most-likely-to-buy” category, and gives you a clearly defined group of people you can target with more specific sales messages.

To capture leads you need a carefully planned strategy. You need to get beyond the usual “send us an email for more information” approach.

Simple online forms backed up with autoresponders are perfect for this task. Normally this involves offering some tip or free information course, or possibly a free piece of software.

In order to receive the free gift the website visitor must fill in a short form giving you their name and email address. Then the autoresponder automatically sends out a message containing or pointing to the free gift, along with a presentation of your product. You can also program the autoresponder to send out a series of messages so your promotional pitch is placed in front of them a number of times.

**6. Use Pay-Per-Click Advertising for instant traffic

Pay-Per-Click advertising especially Google Adwords can be an amazingly powerful tool to reach your exact target market and generate pre-qualified, targeted leads almost instantly.

But this service is also becoming increasingly expensive. And when you make mistakes they can be very costly. There are ways of maximizing your Google Adwords results. These techniques can save you thousands of dollars, and greatly increase the effectiveness of your Adwords campaigns.

The best website promotion program is one that combines all six of these techniques into an organized program. If you are too busy getting your business started, or too busy servicing your clients, then your best bet is to look for a website promotion professional who can prepare and maintain a program for you.
