A Retrospective View of Cinematography

08/01/2010

Cinematography is among the man’s attempts to portray to others, thru the utilization of strategies that blend motion pictures and text, the world and the messages it transfers as these are accepted by the artist. With the term cinematography, one today describes the discipline of making lighting and camera selections when recording photographic photographs for theatre use. Based totally on 2 Greek words, cinematography etymologically means ‘writing in the movement’ and was introduced as a new strategy to record pictures of folk and objects as they moved and project them on to a kind of screen. Mixed with sculpture, painting, dance, design, music, and literature, cinematography is today thought to be the 7th art. However it is clear that man has experimented, really early in human history, with different techniques that would permit him to record the movement of photographs. Extremely strongly related to still photography, that has been a catalyst to the development of cinematography since the mid 19th Century, the strategy that would permit pictures to be recorded while in motion has been extensively studied. One of the first tries to research the component of movement with the assistance of photographic machinery was manufactured by the English snapper Edward Muybridge in 1878. After successfully developing a new technique of making successive photographic photographs, he recorded the movement of a running pony. Thru the motion photographs he produced, he was able to prove that there are examples when a pony is running that none of its feet touch the ground. Round the same period, the French physicist Etienne Mare managed to capture, also by employing photographic machinery that might record twelve photographs per second, the movements of a flying bird. Based totally on the developments of the early 1880s in exposing photographs on light sensitive elements, traced to forerunners like Thomas Edison and the Lumiere bros among others, the new art sort of motion footage introduced a new kind of aesthetics that caught the awareness of folks needing to explore its applications and create art. One of the first cinematographers that made a decision to inspect this dimension of moving pictures was the French Maries-George-Jean Mlis who became one of the first theatre directors. With his film, Trip to the Moon ( Le excursion dans la lune ) in 1901, he made a wonderful tale about a trip to the moon using motion photographs. He was also the one which introduced the coloring technique in films by painting every one of the frames by hand. In the youth stage of motion photos, the cinematographer had multiple roles, acting as the director and the individual holding and moving the camera. As the years pasted, this new art form was further developed by the new technical tools introduced. New art-related professions appeared and due to cinema’s capability to capture the notice of massive audiences across the planet by appealing to over one the 5 senses, cinematography appeared to what’s known today as a multi-billion dollar industry and one of the favorite art forms in the world. art competition

Skeptical Of 3DTV?

07/13/2010

While the Dish Network and some other cable and satellite providers have announced that they are moving ahead and offering 3DTV channels beginning in 2010 and 2011, others look at the industry and predict that any further action will take a number of years. A recent study by the University of Southern California’s Entertainment Technology Center in concert with the Consumer Electronics Association found that only about 25% of internet users were considering buying a 3DTV in the next three years.

It is believed by Bruce Leichtman, of the Leichtman Research Group, and others that one of the major problems for 3DTV will be the price of the peripherals. $50 a pair is a common, affordable price for 3D glasses. The price for a 3DTV can really pile up when you take into consideration that you will have to buy 3DTV glasses for everyone in your family along a few extra pairs for any guests that stop by. Otherwise, those without glasses will be stuck watching the blurry image that 3D appears as when glasses aren’t used.

While a BBC article cited a survey that forecast 3.4 million 3D TV sets will be sold in the United States alone this year, analyst James McQuivey disputes those figures. The vice president and principal analyst at Forrester Research, in his blog post, wrote that not even a million US homes will have 3D TV in 2010?.

Is the public ready for 3D TV? There is still many questions that need to be answered and these questions will be answered over the coming years, but one thing is certain, you will never see TV the same again.

MGMT have turned down supporting slots with Lady Gaga’s tour to promote the Bad Romance song along with, U2, Coldplay and Foo Fighters.

The ‘Electric Feel’ hitmakers – consisting of Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Martin Goldwasser – are determined not to perform arena shows with huge acts because they don’t want to be pop stars.

Andrew said: “We’ve recently been offered support slots with a ton of big bands. Really huge, enormous, big bands – Like Lady Gaga and U2 and Coldplay and Foo Fighters. And we turned them all down. We really didn’t want to do any of that.”

Ben believes the US duo have been “blown out of proportion” as a musical act because their aim was always to be a rock band and not a pop group.

He said: “Well, we really do feel like we were blown out of proportion by everybody. We don’t feel like pop stars, we feel like a rock band. We don’t want to play arenas. It’s not our mission.”

Because of this, they have made a point of making sure their new LP ‘Congratulations’ is different to their last album ‘Oracular Spectacular’.

Andrew explained: “I think on some level it is a reaction to the success of the first one. I mean, of course we were happy and felt lucky that stuff happened, but it wasn’t really what we were shooting for. I think a lot of people misinterpreted and misunderstood what we were about.”

Japanese Cuisine in Melbourne

07/20/2009

Melbourne, Australia has some fantastic hospitality service and has some amazing places to wine and dine. I have migrated here for more than 6 years, I have been fortunate enough to have savored some of the best dishes from several cuisines offered by restaurants in Melbourne.

I have been a big devotee of Japanese food and cuisine for a long time. Since being in Melbourne, I have visited many japanese restaurants and have sampled many dishes that they have to offer. Some good and some bad, I can often tell if the food is good by the people working the restaurant. I have established my own assumption that if the restaurant is ran and worked by Japanese, the food that it serves is dependable.

There are many other Japanese cuisine franchises in Melbourne which are not owned and operated by Japanese. The level of service and quality of food that it produces are just astonishing. Yes, the price will be more but the authenticity of the taste and the level of service that you are getting is bad. If you are serious about Japanese food, take the time to research and inquire around. You will often find that there is a Japanese restaurant just around the corner from you that you have not noticed.

I find myself visiting this particular restaurant in Melbourne more often these days ” Takumi. They is based handily in the city and is accessible by public transportation. They specialise in wagyu beef and modern Japanese cuisines. They are fully owned and operated by a Japanese family and the level of service that they have provided me is remarkable. They offer a unusual style of bbq dishes with their state-of-the-art smoke-free barbeque tables.

So, if you are visiting Australia, be sure to take the time to explore and visit the many Melbourne Japanese restaurants.
