Buxton and Other Peak District Attractions

Situated conveniently between Manchester and Sheffield, the Peak District is a perfect escape from the fast pace of city living. If you come from Manchester or Sheffield, it’s accessible within an hour by car or train and a great selection for a weekend break. If you’re coming from further away, we would say it’s better if you can stay in the Peak District for 3 or 4 days since there’s much to get up to in the Peak District.
Many holiday makers connect the Peak District with the summertime, but it’s scenic the entire year, and nowhere is the change of season more emphasized than in the Peak area.
As cited previously, there is plenty you can do in the Peak District. The beautiful hillsides persuade people out of their cottages and onto long walks, and there’s a lot of rambling to do – as many as thirty well tramped routes.
There’s also a good deal of sites to go fishing in and around the Peak District, especially the Ladybower region. Even if you’re not into physical activities, drive the car and visit Chatsworth House. A good half day is advised, the garden area alone it’s possible to spend an hour or two in! Or go to Buxton for something to eat in one of their many pubs, and a walk in their pavilion gardens, or even the opera (yes, Buxton has its own Opera house). Not to forget the villages in the Hope Valley which are beautiful .
How can one find a place to stay in the Peak area? We advocate hiring a Peak District holiday cottage. Cottages are fantastic in that they assure you have the privacy of your own space, and the chance to chill out with your family and friends in a comfy environment. The best way to find cottages is to utilize the internet. Key in a search term such as “places to stay in the Peak District” and one is certain to locate lots of possible choices.
