The Facts You Should Understand about BoTox
09/29/2009
Botox has become the latest thing in Sydney society in fact it is fast becoming an integral part of grooming for a lot of people in the city. Nevertheless I am frequently astonished when I hear the absurd misinformation in connection with the treatment.
To follow are a selection of the misunderstandings that I encounter in my work as a doctor at Star Cosmetic Medicine located in Pyrmont, Sydney.
Misconception # 1: Botox will freeze all my facial expressions!
The human face has sixty or so muscles. The facial muscles ordinarily operate harmoniously, but from excessive movement crow’s feet and fine lines can appear. The overuse of Botulinum Toxin have the effect of the forehead appearing too relaxed. By and large doctors use comparatively small dosages to will result in you appearing refreshed, yet you will still be every bit as animated.
By using the proper dosage of the wrinkle injection in precisely the right muscles one should have a reduction in the lines without compromising facial expression.

Misconception # 2: Botox is a deadly poison!
This to some extent is right. Its scientific name is Botulinum Toxin Type A. In very large doses it can loosen facial muscles that you do not want relaxed and even may cause illness.
Chemists have a famous saying ‘everything is a poison – all depending on the dose’. A large amount of any medication may result in sickness. Water can kill you if enough is taken.
Misconception # 3: Botox hurts!
The needles used at Star Cosmetic Medicine have a diameter less than your hair. Numerous people have said that the injections aren’t as sore as being bit by bugs. It is certainly not as sore as something like a vaccination.
Misconception # 4: I might lose feeling in my face!
This is completely untrue. Botulinum medicine works primarily on the junction between the nerve and the facial muscle, and not on the nerves of sensation. Only the ability to relax your muscles is impacted by Botox injections.
Misconception # 5. Once you begin Botox you have to continue otherwise the wrinkles become more pronounced!
This is also untrue.
You can expect Botox to be effective for up to 3 months. Further treatments tend to last longer. The lines will eventually re-emerge as the muscle returns to normal. However they will definitely not be any deeper than previously.
In fact the wrinkles will in general be less evident than if you had never had Botox – even if you never repeat the treatment. This, of course is chiefly because your facial muscles and skin have had a rest for a few months.
