2006 NFL Draft Preview: Picks 11-15

12/31/2008

As nearly everyone expected, Jay Cutler was the third QB taken in this year’s draft, but he has the potential to be a better player than both Leinart and Young because of his powerful right arm. Cutler has as strong an arm as any QB selected in recent years. He reminds me of Brett Favre at times the way his arm allows him to make plays most QB’s can’t make. He will be a great guy to have on deck in Denver behind Plummer. He will only get better as he set numerous school records at Vanderbilt playing with mediocre talent. Give this kid a good offensive line and a couple wide outs and he has the potential for an outstanding career.

The Ravens’ success has been built around a tough defense and after a down year, things should be looking back up with Haloti Ngata from the University of Oregon stepping into Baltimore’s offensive front and clogging up lead plays. He has been considered a top 10 pick from day 1 and the Ravens have to be thrilled to get him at 12. He should be a big asset for Pro Bowl linebacker Ray Lewis as Ngata will keep down lineman from firing out and getting to him. With Ray Lewis more free to roam, the Ravens’ defense can get back to where they were a few seasons ago. The only knock on this guy is occasional laziness, but I think it stems from him wearing out and his conditioning should improve in the NFL.

Kamerion Wimbley was the second Florida State Seminole and second defensive end taken early on in the 2006 draft. He lacks bulk like some of the great defensive ends such as Reggie White, but the game is increasingly becoming one of speed, and I can see him using his speed off the line like Jason Taylor. He will need to get better at fundamental skills like using his hands to control blockers, and he will need to improve on stringing together a series of moves after his initial move is stopped. I don’t think he’ll have any problems with these things and would probably already have these skills if he wasn’t able to blow by defensive tackles at will in the ACC. The Browns need help on the defensive side of the ball and Wimbley should be a solid start.

The Philadelphia Eagles also went after a Seminole with the 14th pick selecting nose tackle Brodrick Bunkley to give them some push up the middle. His quickness will be a major asset as he will be able to push the pocket in passing situations, but he also has the size to clog up the middle and slow down the run. Add Bunkley to Mike Patterson and Darwin Walker, and the Eagles have themselves a solid front 3. I’m actually a little bit surprised that his college teammate leapfrogged him as he was figured to go in the top 12 and he is a more fundamental football player who already has great technique. The Eagles are glad he was still around. They’ll hope he can help them regain their defensive prowess which was tarnished last season.

The St. Louis Rams love speed on both sides of the ball and they got a corner back from Clemson in Tye Hill who can flat out fly. He ran a 4.38 40-yard dash at the combine, but has a listed time of 4.25 seconds. He has the quickness to be a great cover corner in the league for years to come as he is able to react and recover exceptionally if he gets beat. His quickness also allows him to support the run effectively. His only downfall is that his hands are just so-so. He probably won’t be a big play interception guy, but as he develops, I think his speed could allow him to give fits to some of the best receivers in the league. Look for Mr. Hill to step right in and get lots of playing time. He will probably be playing every down before the season is over.

Football Trophies

American football is the number-one spectator team sport in the U.S.A. Outside of the U.S. and Canada it is called American football, to distinguish it from other football games like soccer or rugby football. American football evolved from rugby football in the late nineteenth century.

The game is a team sport. The object of the game is to manipulate the football into the opponent’s end zone and score points. The ball can be advanced by carrying it or passing it to a teammate. Points are scored by carrying the ball into the end zone, passing it to a teammate past the goal line or kicking it between the goal posts. The team that has scored the highest points when the time expires is declared the winner.

English Colonial settlers brought the game of football to the Americas at the turn of the seventeenth century. Some 200 years later, football was introduced to American colleges, and in 1867 the first set of rules of American football were drawn up in Princeton College. They were very similar to the rules of soccer. The game was picked up by other colleges, such as Rutgers, Columbia, Yale and Harvard. In 1876, the Intercollegiate Football Association was formed to draw up rules that were similar to the rugby union.

Some changes were introduced to the game after it was found that it was dangerous and causing high fatalities. It was not until 1920s that professional league games were started. The American Professional Football Association (APFA) was started in 1921. It was renamed the NFL (National Football League) in 1922. The first championship was between the Chicago Bears and New York Giants.

In 1960, another league was formed, called the American Football League (AFL). At the end of the 1966 season, the NFL champions played the AFL champions for the first-ever Super Bowl, the world cup of American football. Football is played at a number of levels in the U.S. and elsewhere. The major leagues are as follows: National Football League (top level men’s professional league), NFL Europe, College Football, Mexican College Football, British Collegiate American Football League, German Football League, North American Football League and Women’s American Football.

Football trophies are commonly made of metals or plastic, depicting scenes of players kicking or battling.

Successful Baseball Betting

The season of MLB baseball is a long one, thanks to each team playing 162 games,
and it’s filled to the brim with opportunity. The successful baseball bettor can make
an excellent profit over the course of a season. Picking winners in MLB baseball is
done by a simple win or lose wager. There are no point spreads in major league
baseball. Baseball bettors can utilize the run line to minimize money line amounts.
So how does one win successful over the course of a MLB season? Let’s take a look
at a couple key ideas.

Run Line

Betting on baseball involves picking the winner on the money line. For example, if
you liked the favorite and they were – $2.50, you would bet $2.50 for each $1 you
want to win. Should you love the underdog and they are + 2.15, you would receive
$2.15 for every dollar wagered.

Sometimes you really like a favorite, but the money is far too high. Betting on $2.00
or larger favorites is not really the way to build up your bankroll. If you just have to
bet the team, consider betting them on the run line. By giving up the 1.5 runs (so
your team must win by 2 or more runs), you will greatly decrease the money line. If
your selection is truly a good team, compared to the opponent, they will have s very
good shot of winning on the run line.

Pitchers

You must know your pitchers to win in MLB baseball long-term. That’s a concrete
fact and there’s no way around. In MLB Baseball, the pitcher is the dominant force. A
solid pitcher can completely control the game and turn a decent team into a
powerhouse for one game. Most sports bettors fail, because they name bet. This is
when you bet on a team based on the name and reputation of the pitcher instead of
looking at all the underlying stats related to the specific game.

Instead of betting on pitcher just because of his name, here’s a short list of a couple
pieces of information you want to gather and compare to the opposing pitcher.

1. What is his record against the other team (give extra weight to recent games)?

2. What is his team’s record again the other team when he pitches?

3. How does he pitch at the location the game is at?

4. How many innings does he normally pitch? What about against this opponent?

5. Has the pitcher been nursing any injuries lately or is he coming back from one?

That’s five general questions you need to ask. There are more, but these are good
to get started with.

Managers and Scoring

It’s good to know your managers. More importantly, know what their playing
strategy is. For example, does the manager love to play “small ball” or does he play
for solid hits and home runs? If the manager does not like to play small ball and is
lacking power hitters and very solid OBP (on base percentage guys), scoring will be
hit and miss. Managers that love to play small ball and have a fair number of guys
with a good average and OBP will score runs fairly consistently. This does not mean
they will win, but you can usually count on these teams to score a few runs on any
given day.

Now, let’s put it together. If you have a pitcher who generally gives up 7-8 hits and
1-2 walks a game and has a low ERA going against a “small ball” type team with a
good number of players with solid OBP numbers, what do you think will happen?
That pitcher is going to, potentially, give up some runs. However, if he is facing a
more hit & homer type team, he could potentially freeze them out of runs.

There are many more aspects to look at, but these three areas are critical to
selecting baseball winners. Winning long-term is not just about picking winners, it’s
also about getting good value on your wagers.

Data Recovery And Data Loss – A Costly Proposition

12/28/2008

Data Loss and Business Solvency

Many companies are not able to survive a major data crash. For that reason it is critical you do everything possible to prevent significant data loss when working from a PC. There are a number of precautions you can take to limit your risk of data loss or the nee for data recovery.

Taking precautions will help establish your firm’s solvency and legitimacy. You can establish more trust and better business relationships when customers know you protect your data using tried and tested methods. The best way to protect your business data is by backing it up, whether using an outside agency, to disk or to a server.

Recovering Lost Data

Of course if despite your best precautions you find that you still face a data loss problem, its best you find a data recovery specialist to work with. Tinkering too much on your own may result in bigger problems and greater losses than you might have initially incurred. Fortunately there are plenty of data recovery specialists that have worked even under the most dire situations that often are capable of recovering most if not all of a users data in the event of a serious mishap. To ensure the best success you should shop around for a provider with a lot of experience particularly with the situation you are experiencing and one capable of providing you with substantial references. This way you’ll make sure you are charged a fair and honest price and get what you pay for.

Are You Fully Committed to Playing Your Best Golf?

After taking golf lessons and/or attempting to make changes in one’s swing, many players have a difficult time fully committing to executing the new swing on the golf course. There are a variety of reasons for this. Some are concerned because of a fear of hitting the ball in a “bad” place- into a hazard, bunker, OB, etc. Others don’t swing the club with full commitment because of a lack of faith in their ability to swing it well, and instead end up trying to guide the ball.

The trouble with making tentative swings is that regularly the shot ends up creating a poor result. Here is how the best players in the world handle this problem.

There are basically two ways to approach a shot, each with two basic results. A swing can either be committed or uncommitted, and the result of any swing can have a positive result or a negative result.

1. Commitment with Positive Result————–2. Commitment with Negative Result

3. Lack of Commitment with Positive Result——4. Lack of Commitment with Negative Result

Situation 4 is the absolute worst feeling in golf. Swinging the club or executing a putt tentatively and/or without commitment and getting a poor result is a double whammy. Here the player is trying to protect against a feared consequence, hasn’t really given himself a chance for something good to happen, and had the feared outcome happen anyway. This scenario scores a direct hit on the confidence because of the lack of courage and the poor result.

Situation 3 is only slightly better. In this instance, the player doesn’t really “go after it”, but gets a positive result anyway. Most golfers in their heart of hearts know when they’ve “gotten away with one” as opposed to when they’ve actually “gone after it”. Most players don’t feel very good even when they have hit a timid shot or made an unsure putt and had the ball go where they were hoping. Essentially, this feels good in the moment, but it has a negative impact on most players’ confidence.

For the most part a lack of commitment, irrespective of result, sets up situations that ultimately hurt a player’s confidence.

On the other hand, commitment inescapably does the opposite.

Situation 2, where a player makes a fully committed swing or putt and doesn’t get the result he’d like, creates mild disappointment. While this is true, competitive golfers know that they’ve at least given themselves a chance for something good to happen, and have done what they could to create a positive golf shot. Most live well with this, knowing that over time these types of swings and putts will produce the rewards they seek. This is a net positive to the confidence.
Situation 1 is the best feeling in golf. It is the situation where one makes a fully dedicated pass at the ball and gets exactly what one was looking for. These are the moments which generate – even for the casual golfer- the kind of internal response that connect with one’s love of the game. Getting a positive result in a situation where a challenge was confronted head on is high on the list of confidence boosters.

Confidence can be built one shot at a time if swings and putts are made with steadfast commitment!

MCSE Certification – A Lifetime Of Educating

12/27/2008

In this article we’re going to focus on the downside of getting an MCSE certification as far as what it will mean to the lifetime of your career.

Let’s be honest, Microsoft is the king of computer everything, from software to networking. Once upon a time Novell was the only real networking super power. Now Microsoft dominates the industry, though it is debatable as to whether or not they actually have the better product.

As a result, just about every company has a Microsoft network. Just the fact that this makes it easier to run your online applications, since most software is Windows based, makes it almost suicidal to go with anything else but Microsoft. Therefore, if you want to get a job at one of these companies, and believe me the competition is off the charts, you have to get MCSE certified.

Therein lies the rub.

See, the Microsoft network itself is far from stable. The truth is, every few years or so there are major changes in the operating system and everyone has to, literally, go back to school. Simply as a matter of being able to keep your network running, unless of course you stay with the old network, you have to get educated. If you choose not to, well, the problem you then face is that eventually the old network is no longer supported and you’re out of luck should anything go wrong. So upgrading is almost a must.

But what about the people who have to get certified? Most of them probably just did a few years back and some maybe even within the past few months. And now here they are with a brand new certification and suddenly it is going to be worthless in a very short time. So what happens is they have to go back to school again and get recertified.

What about the ones who just say, “The heck with it. I know enough to do my job. I can learn the new changes on my own.” Well, maybe they can. But what if they can’t? If they can’t and don’t get recertified here comes the next problem. Many companies just look for excuses to lay people off. What better excuse to get rid of an older employee who is making more money than a new kid who just recently got certified? In most cases the company will fire the old guy, telling him simply that it is because he didn’t get recertified, and hire this new kid right out of school, even though he may, in no way, be as capable of doing the job.

The point of all this is simply that if you want to be an MCSE then be prepared to go to school every few years for the rest of your life. Otherwise, at the very first opportunity you may very well find yourself losing your job to some new kid right out of school. Its just something to consider before you trek off into that land of no return called MCSE certification.

The Best Home Gyms for Your Workouts

12/26/2008

Home fitness gyms are quite popular for people who want the benefits of a good workout without having to leave home to get it. The best home gyms on the market are durable, reliable, constructed with quality parts and materials, and most importantly, meet your specific fitness and workout needs.

Three Types of Home Gyms

There are three basic types of home gym:

• Machine

• Free weight

• Plate loaded machine

Each type comes with its own advantages and disadvantages, and each is suited to different workout needs and styles. Determining the best home gyms for your consideration requires some research and information gathering to narrow the list to a few you can try out in person.

Let’s take a look at each of these in turn.

About Machine Home Gyms

Machine home gyms are constructed of a single steel frame. Attached to this frame are different types of training equipment that work different parts of the body with different motions and exercises.

Machine home gyms generally fall into three categories:

Traditional – This is the most common type of machine home gym. It contains multiple stations and functions, such as a lat pull down, leg extension and leg curl, press, and bench. Most also have an adjustable weight stack and may also have a low row station, too.

Power rod – This category uses flexible rods to create resistance and weight load during your workout. The rods are of varying stiffness and thus create various levels of resistance. The most well known power rod home gym is the Bowflex brand.

Gravity resistance – This category of machine home gyms is typically lightweight, portable, and of somewhat questionable quality. The machine has a metal frame that is adjustable, and a gliding bench or board that holds your body during exercises. The weight of your body creates the resistance, as you pull on cables to glide yourself up and down various inclines and in various positions.

About Free Weight Home Gyms

A free weight home gym consists of several separate pieces of equipment that are not attached together in any way. The pieces are used in different combinations and different frequencies to achieve training goals. Weights are added, dropped or adjusted by hand, using whichever bar you have selected for a particular exercise.

Free weight home gyms generally fall into three categories:

Traditional – This is the most common category and considered by many to be the best home gyms for multi-purpose workouts. The specific components may vary, but usually include at least one barbell, two dumbbells, a variety of weight plates, a bench and rack, and collars to prevent weight plates from falling.

Power rack – This category is generally for home gyms that focus on heavy exercises. The power rack itself is free standing and holds the barbell. The user adjusts the height of the rack so that he or she squats slightly to place the barbell across the top of the back, then stands up straight and moves back to commence the exercise. When the exercise is complete, the user simply moves forward again and places the barbell back in the rack.

Power cage – This category of equipment is used in much the same manner as a power rack, but with a slight difference. The power cage has rectangular sides for holding the barbell, which means the user cannot move as far forward or backward as they can with power rack equipment.

About Plate Loaded Machine Home Gyms

A plate loaded machine home gym combines elements of both a free weight home gym and a standard machine home gym. It may have several stations and functions like a machine home gym, but instead of having a standard weight stack it requires you to add and subtract weight by hand, just like with a free weight home gym.

There are three common categories of plate loaded machine home gyms:

Machine without weight stacks – This category is for equipment that is essentially a standard machine home gym with multiple stations, but with the exception that weights are loaded manually.

Smith machine – This category is a machine-form of a power rack or a power cage. Instead of the user moving backward to perform the actual exercises, a smith machine limits the motion to straight up and down without any forward or backward movement.

Combination Smith machine – This category combines the elements of a standard smith machine with some of the things found on a machine gym, such as a lat pull down or other similar function.

Which Gym is Best For You?

The best home gyms are those that have the features and functions that match your personal fitness goals and meet other specific requirement.

For example, if your goal is to build gigantic muscles then you should consider a smith machine that allows you to do squats, dead lifts, and perform both with a great deal of weight. If your goals are more modest, though, then a standard machine home gym should be sufficient. You might even prefer a gravity resistance home gym if you are more interested in overall body toning rather than building up muscle bulk.

Of course, cost is a big consideration, and as with most other types of fitness equipment, you will tend to get a level of quality that is in line with the amount of money that you spend. Many people opt for a short term membership at a gym or fitness club so that they can try several types of machines to see which ones they like best.

Still not sure which is right for you? Think about buying an inexpensive home gym of whatever type you like the best so you can try it out without making a huge financial commitment. If you are ready to take the plunge and invest in a high quality, serious fitness home gym, though, expect to spend at least $500 and more likely around $1,000 or more.

Before making any purchase, it is critical that you measure the space where you plan to put your home gym so you know exactly how big your home gym should be. Remember to allow enough space around the perimeter of the home gym so that you can easily move around and access the equipment.

Data Storage

In this day and age of corporate espionage, you need to store your data not only efficiently, but also securely. You need to be able to effectively store and backup your data in order to keep your business alive.

Many data storage firms now offer the necessary infrastructure, comprehensive security, working scalability and far-reaching management services to give you the highest level of data protection. But how do you know which of them can answer your specific needs? Read on to find out.

What to look for in a date storage firm

Not all data storage firms are created equal. More often than not, some give you more value-added services and more effective, data storage implementation. Here are some characteristics of good data storage providers.

Good reputation and history. Look for a data storage company that has done a lot of work for a wide array of data storage areas, such as business record keeping, providing back up and security for healthcare records, archiving of film and sound files, backup vaulting, disaster recovery services and continuity consulting. Older companies are not necessarily better than new ones. Don’t make the mistake of deciding just based on numbers. Do your research and find out from other clients which firms implement the best practices.

Extensive networks. The best data storage companies have an international network of offsite data storage vaults in highly-secure environments. This way, your data is backed up in several sites. The sign of a true, full-service data storage provider is linking. They should have a very sound and structured network of databases that are secure and accessible.

Quick recovery. The essence of effective data storage is not so much record ‘keeping,’ but record ‘recovery.’ The firm must give you back your data quickly and accurately the moment you need it. Look for a data storage firm that can perform rapid recovery when urgent situations and disasters strike.

Security and peripheral services. A data storage company should not stop at filing your records away. They should be able to perform routine and preventive data security measures such as vaulting your backup data for remote offices, defending your backup data from error or sabotage and analyzing and executing disaster recovery plans to keep your business alive.

Data Storage provides detailed information on Data Storage, Online Data Storage, Computer Data Storage, Data Storage Solutions and more. Data Storage is affiliated with Data Backup Services.

Golf Swing Tips Will Not Work By Themselves

12/25/2008

Golf swing tips are rampant! Golfers can’t get enough of them. But are they working…or are they adding to the confusion and frustration of your game? Many qualified instructors will tell you to stay away from all the golf swing tips in the golf magazines.

Why?

Because it causes “paralysis-by-analysis!”

What I mean is you get on the course and you are thinking too much about your golf swing mechanics and not enough about getting the ball in the fairway, onto the green, and in the hole!

We also call this the “62-point checklist”.

I’m here to tell you that golf swing tips by themselves will NEVER work! I know…this is a very strong statement, but I feel very strong about this.

How many times have you received a tip from a golf instructor, golfing buddy or out of a magazine…only to try it and play worse?

Come on…be honest!

I can tell you right now that it’s your BODY that won’t allow you to apply this golf swing tip. Your brain knows what to do…and wants to do it, but your body CAN’T perform it!

Your heard it right here! Your BODY can’t do it! This is the missing link to your best golf ever!

Work on the machine (you) and the golf swing tips or mechanics you so yearn to do will magically happen. I’ve seen it hundreds of times with the golfers I’ve worked with.

I have literally taken someone off the practice tee, given them a stretch and they step right up and nail the ball long and right in the middle of the range. They become instant believers!

There is no magical golf swing tip that’s going to change your game!

Golf swing mechanics are critical, and the “only” way to achieve them is to reduce your own personal physical limitations. This is not an overnight fix, but one that will last the rest of your golfing career.

Wouldn’t it be nice to step up to the tee and know without a doubt you’re going to be the longest (and straightest) hitter in your foursome? How about shooting the lowest score and taking all the money?

This is a reality if…you work on your machine (body), ‘off the course’ to play better on the course.

Then… and only then will all those golf swing tips work!

Overseas Gaming Keeps Bettors at Their PC’s

12/24/2008

Nearly all betting fans have encountered the phrase “offshore sports betting”, but a few might not be totally sure what it signifies. A foreign gaming internet site essentially runs outside the jurisdiction of a distinct state or alternatively it can be a net based gambling website which deploys their servers within the borders of a state in which internet based gambling is not presently disallowed. To sum up then, it’s a sports betting site operative extraneous to the state of the bettor. Web based gambling sites are mainly governed via 3 institutions. They are OSGA (the Offshore Gaming Association), IGC (Interactive Gaming Council) and finally the Fidelity Trust Gaming Association FTGA.

The Offshore Gaming Association is a self-regulating institution that currently monitors the modern offshore sports gambling business, they undertake to afford sports gamblers the means to identify honorable sites to play games of chance on, without stress. It attempts to support gambling devotee’s rights, furthermore they do not levy any yearly fees.

The agency is an extremely expert not to mention unprejudiced third party organisation who convey nonpartisan judgments, suggested by customer feedback, unbiased investigation, telephone conversations, insider tips and in addition supplies inside news.

The IGC is a not-for-profit organization. The organisation was designed to provide a forum for worried participants to address questions and in addition to boost collective interests in the international online sports gaming business, to ensure fair not to mention dutiful commercial protocols and practices which raise customer faith in online wagering commodities and benefits, also to function as the overseas gambling industry’s universal practise advisor and it also provides an information center.

The IGC have built a distinction for safety, integrity also credibility through the ideals it demands, also its allure for ethical web sites. The Interactive Gaming Council influences overseas betting by means of endorsing a distinctive ten step code of conduct and in addition charges sports gaming business enterprises license fees for publishing the council’s logo. Displeased gamers can, should they need to, report any of their grievances to the IGC.

The FTGA was set up in order to compose a standard which will upgrade the procedures of internet based sports betting businesses. The council suggest that by affiliating only with respected partners, they can set up a federation of the fairest and professional online gambling companies worldwide.

So, in concise terms there are councils which try to control the dealings exercised by internet based gaming and which should in time work to allay a few of the misgivings due to the insecurity felt by detractors. Online sports gaming websites are actually dependable, due to the fact that individual details should not be demanded and the recompense and the odds are equivalent to your usual Vegas-type sportsbet. These internet sites cut traveling outlay, but keep the essence of a Vegas-style betting web site, only today you are enabled to bet in your home.
